DeeperMemo is built around one principle: you memorize language by understanding information, not by repeating symbols. Every feature exists to help you read deeply, build memory through context, and return to familiar articles when a word starts to fade.

Find material you can almost understand

Browse categories and reading streams to find articles at the edge of your level — challenging enough to learn, comprehensible enough to absorb. Material you can almost understand is where new words meet existing knowledge, and real acquisition happens.

Read with deep support

Summaries, sentence-level explanations, article outlines, audio, and timeline cuts help you understand the real meaning — not just guess at it. When you truly understand the information — the cultural references, the implied arguments, the background story — language symbols attach to meaning automatically. Memorizing words becomes a byproduct of comprehension, not a separate effort.

Search finds your articles first

When you search for a word, articles you have already read rise to the top. This is memory affinity — the system knows which contexts belong to your learning history and surfaces them first. The key insight: quality repetition is not seeing a symbol more times, but re-experiencing the same information. Your own articles carry the context that made the word meaningful in the first place. Without this, you would always be reading new articles, spending the same effort to understand from scratch — deeply inefficient.

Return to context when memory fades

Spaced review detects when a word is weakening. One click takes you back to the original article, keyword highlighted — reactivating the understanding that a flashcard never could. FSRS here is not a review scheduler; it is a forgetting detector. Its job is to notice when memory fades and guide you back to the context where understanding first happened. Often, you need to return to the same article several times before the understanding truly sticks — and each return is faster and deeper than the last.
